HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR KRUGER PARK ACCOMMODATION

We have so much choice to offer our clients it sometimes takes enough out of us to just think of which one to offer.  With the alarming statistics that there are over 300 accommodation options in the Kruger National Park alone, this makes for some time consuming searching doesn’t it? 

Not only do we have a large choice of accommodation, we have a ‘small country’ to choose within, did you know that the Kruger National Park covers 18,989 Square Kilometres of land and extends 360km from North to South?  Take into consideration that Hollands has 33, 889 Square Kilometres of land.  It is wonderful that so much land has been set aside to preserve our amazing wildlife!

 Now, the question is… HOW DO YOU FIND THE IDEAL ACCOMMODATION?

I would look at the question.  What do I or my guests wish to receive from this experience?

And the answer here is…. to see the Big Five, there is no better way to see the Big Five than from a private lodge.   Yes this can be a bit more pricey than one of the rest camps or public lodges on the borders of the Kruger National Park, but you have the luxury of sharing a  vehicle with only 8 other people, your own wonderfully trained and very intelligent ranger and your very own tracker, perched on the front of the vehicle.

 I must admit, having sat on this seat before, only to shine the light at night while spotting for animals, my imagination ran right into the level of reserve one must have when happening upon a pride of lions on the hunt, or better yet… An elephant bull in musth.  But the game experience in this manner is worth a 1000 words.

Now there are so many wonderful lodges in the Kruger, but I want to offer you the idea of two wonderful lodges.

The unique selling points and what to look out for at Idube are:

  * Location – right in the heart of all the more expensive lodges

 * Value for Money – at a lead in rate of ZAR3000 per person, per night inclusive of Three   meals, two game drives every day and a game walk, this public price is still excellent value for money.

The other lodge I would consider sending clients to would be Lukimbi Safari Lodge which is located right in the Southern Kruger Park – part of the public park, but the unique point is… that we have 15, 000 ha to ourselves to maintain and traverse on, thereby offering guests complete undisturbed game viewing.

I maintain this is an all purpose lodge.. Offering 16 suites split halfway by the main lodge, you can put families to one side and wedding guests to the other side.  Although a five star lodge…. Lukimbi takes children and the best part…. is these beds

I mean, lets be serious, me as an adult would want to sleep on that… What fun, how many people can say….’ I slept on a Zebra’ ?

Now apart from the groovy beds, Lukimbi has the most gorgeous chappel and is a superb spot for weddings. 

With access to the Leopard Creek Golf Estate if you stay at Lukimbi, and on top of that, the lodge offers full day walking safaris during the milder months.  This lodge has so much to offer.
